2021 Querciabella - Chianti Classico (750ml)
Sourced from Greve, Radda, and Gaiole across 350 to 700 meters of elevation, the 2021 Querciabella Chianti Classico delivers a structured, terroir-driven expression built on seventy-four hectares of managed biodynamic vineyards.
Grown on sandstone and galestro soils with controlled yields, the grapes are handled through minimal intervention vinification. The wine matures for fourteen months in a mix of small and large oak vessels using zero new cooperage, then rests for an additional twelve months in bottle before release. This extended neutral-oak regimen highlights the vintage’s bright acidity while allowing the tannins to remain fine and chalky rather than heavy or extracted.
Visually deep purple, the 2021 opens with aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, violet, and lavender, grounded by a subtle savory thread of fresh leather. The palate shows a silky, vibrant middle that carries those same dark fruit and floral notes into a long, layered finish.
Absence of new oak keeps the primary fruit front and center, which works exceptionally well with rich, slow-cooked dishes. Serve it alongside pasta dressed in a wild boar ragu or simply paired with grilled Tuscan sausage to let the wine’s earthy minerality and tidy tannic grip anchor the meal. By converting to organic farming in 1988 and shifting to full biodynamics in 2000, Querciabella established a reputation for precise, site-specific Chianti Classico that drinks cleanly despite its age-worthy architecture.
