Argyle Winery is based in Dundee, Oregon, founded by Rollin Soles, an early pioneer of Oregon's sparkling wine program. Nuthouse Pinot Noir highlights the structured, refined character of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA, blending fruit primarily from Lone Star Vineyard with a small accent of Spirit Hill Vineyard. Cold soaking and fermenting in small, 1.5-ton fermenters enhances the wine's silky texture, while 10% whole-cluster inclusion adds freshness, complexity, and length.

The 2022 vintage was aged for 14 months in French oak. Sourced from this slightly cooler year, it's a sensational showing, with dusty soils and copious minerals combining with suggestions of tobacco leaf and dense red fruit on the palate, fresh and vibrant with great depth. Somewhat atypical for this bottling, the 2022 offers a little more fruit richness than usual, with bright cherry, dry earth, dried spring herbs, and a touch of cinnamon still integrating with the oak toast.

Expect light raspberry, cranberry, and lingonberry aromas working alongside delicate strawberry, wildflower, and herbal notes. The acidity is spot on, keeping the wine food-friendly, while the tannins provide real structure.

This is a versatile, elegant Pinot Noir well suited to roast chicken, duck, or mushroom-forward dishes, with the structure to reward a few years of cellaring.

92 Points
"Exuberantly lively and pinpoint in focus, with vibrant cherry and cranberry flavors laced with cinnamon and fresh violet tones as this zips along the finish. Drink now through 2032. 725 cases made."
