Carpineto was founded in 1967 in the small hamlet of Dudda, within the township of Greve in Chianti, by winemaker Giovanni Carlo Sacchet and his partner Antonio Mario Zaccheo. At a time when much of the region still bottled everyday Chianti in the rustic straw covered fiasco, the two set out with a different goal: to prove that Chianti Classico could stand among the world's finest wines. That founding ambition pushed them toward more rigorous vineyard selection and modern winemaking, an approach that shaped the brand's identity from the start. The estate has since grown to 439 hectares across four distinct properties in the Chianti Classico zone, with wines now sold in more than thirty countries.

This bottling is built mainly from Sangiovese, rounded out with a portion of Canaiolo, sourced entirely from Carpineto's own estate vineyards. After fermentation the wine ages through a combination of stainless steel tanks and traditional Slavonian oak barrels for several months, then rests further in bottle before release, a process meant to soften the wine's edges while keeping its fruit forward character intact.

In the glass it shows a bright ruby color with an aromatic lift of violets, berries, and cherries. The palate is full bodied and velvety, with soft, well integrated tannins carrying through to a long, delicate finish. Pour it with pasta in tomato sauce, grilled sausages, or aged provolone.
