2022 Domaine Meo-Camuzet - Nuits St. Georges Boudots (750ml)

Domaine Méo-Camuzet is based in Vosne-Romanée, its holdings assembled in the early twentieth century by Étienne Camuzet, a vigneron and Côte-d'Or member of parliament who was the last private owner of Clos de Vougeot before it passed to the Chevaliers du Tastevin. His daughter later left the estate to Jean Méo, and Jean's son, Jean-Nicolas, has directed the domaine since 1989, building its reputation as one of the Côte de Nuits' finest addresses.

Aux Boudots lies at the northern edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges, bordering Vosne-Romanée's Malconsorts, on the lower, gentler part of the slope. The domaine's holding covers just over two hectares, roughly half planted in the early 1950s and half in the mid-1960s. Since 2012 the cuvée has included ten to fifteen percent whole clusters to add finish, and the wine is aged in barrel, including a share of tight-grained Tronçais oak.

The 2022 shows dark cherry and crushed iris on the nose, with a touch of crushed stone beneath. The palate is medium-bodied and precise, with gentle grip, fine structure, and a sapid, mouthwatering edge. Still young, it deserves three or four years in bottle, and pairs well with braised beef cheeks, roast pheasant, or a firm cow's-milk cheese.
