El Enemigo was founded in 2009 by Alejandro Vigil, longtime head winemaker at Bodega Catena Zapata and a respected soil expert, together with historian Adrianna Catena, youngest daughter of Nicolás Catena. The two friends conceived the project during a conversation in London, united by a shared admiration for cool-climate Cabernet Franc and classic Bordeaux estates like Cheval Blanc. Their goal was to prove that Argentina could produce structured, age-worthy wines built around this variety rather than relying solely on Malbec, and the resulting label has since developed a devoted following.

This Cabernet Franc is sourced primarily from the high-altitude Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, blended with a small portion of Malbec for added depth. The grapes undergo an extended maceration before the wine ages for around fifteen months across foudres, barrels, and tank, a combination that lends structure while keeping oak influence restrained. The limestone and rocky soils at elevation contribute to the wine's freshness and mineral character.

The nose offers cassis, ripe currant, and baking spice, layered with black pepper, cedar, and a touch of eucalyptus. On the palate it is medium-bodied with bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a chalky mineral edge that carries through a long, persistent finish. It suits grilled lamb, roasted duck, or hard aged cheeses.
