2022 Guy Amiot - Chassagne Montrachet Vieilles Vignes (750ml)

Domaine Guy Amiot has been rooted in the Chassagne-Montrachet terroir for generations, established in 1920 by Flavie and Arsène Amiot, who moved from Paris and began estate bottling at a time when most growers sold their wine in bulk. By the late 1980s the founders' grandson, Guy, a trained oenologist, took the reins, refining the wines and building the domaine's international reputation while staying rooted in the family's original vineyards.

This old-vine Chassagne-Montrachet is drawn from about a dozen parcels along the appellation's lower slopes, with exposures running from northeast to southwest across the same clay-limestone soils that shape the village's grand and premier crus. The old vines bring extra concentration and depth beyond a typical village wine. Fermented and aged in barrel with the domaine's traditional care, it balances richness with real freshness and mineral drive.

Pale gold with subtle green reflections, the wine offers ripe yellow-fleshed fruit with delicate hints of vanilla. The palate carries apple, pear, and peach alongside honey and almond notes, framed by lively acidity and a clear mineral backbone. Generous yet precise, it drinks beautifully now with braised pork shoulder, roast poultry, or scallops, and should reward a few years of cellaring.
