2022 Jean-Marie Fourrier - Bourgogne Rouge VV Comte de Chapelle (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]

Jean-Marie Fourrier built his reputation as winemaker at Domaine Fourrier in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the Côte de Nuits' most respected estates, prized for meticulous vineyard work and a light, precise hand in the cellar. Vigne Comte de Chapelle is his separate négociant label, built on the same low-intervention philosophy, and Fourrier has since also taken ownership of Bass Phillip, the acclaimed pinot noir producer in Australia's Gippsland region.

This vieilles vignes Bourgogne Rouge comes from a single parcel of Pinot Noir planted in 1963, on the border between Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, with no sulfur added during vinification, and the wine is raised in mostly neutral oak, allowing the old vines' fruit and the site's character to come through cleanly.

The wine shows red cherry, strawberry, and wild bilberry, with hints of rose petal and forest floor. Silky tannins and lively acidity give it real energy, with a supple, well-rounded structure for a regional bottling. Serve slightly cool alongside grilled duck breast, herb-roasted pork, or a mild, semi-firm cheese.
