2022 Josh Cellars - Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast (750ml)

Joseph Carr launched Josh Cellars in 2007 as a tribute to his father, Josh, a military veteran who worked as a lumberjack and volunteer firefighter and instilled in Carr a strong sense of hard work and community. Carr sold that first vintage out of the back of his truck, and the brand has since grown into one of the best-selling premium wines in the country. Today Josh Cellars sources fruit from some of California's most respected appellations, with winemaker Wayne Donaldson overseeing a lineup built around approachable, well-balanced wines.

This Cabernet Sauvignon draws grapes from across the North Coast, an umbrella region taking in Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties. Lake County's Red Hills AVA sees wide temperature swings between day and night, encouraging balanced ripening and layered flavor, while Mendocino's cooler coastal sites contribute finesse and lively acidity. The blend from these varied sources is crafted to be fruit forward and approachable while still offering real structure.

The wine opens with rich dark cherry and blackcurrant aromas layered with mocha and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, plum and black cherry flavors are joined by hints of nutmeg and vanilla, leading into a long, smooth finish backed by gentle tannins. This Cabernet suits casual gatherings well, pairing nicely with burgers, barbecue ribs, or a wedge of aged cheddar.
