2022 Louis Jadot - Chambertin Clos de Beze (750ml)
Maison Louis Jadot has been a fixture of Beaune since its founding in 1859, growing over generations into one of Burgundy's most significant négociant-growers, with substantial vineyard holdings spread across the Côte d'Or and Côte Chalonnaise. Winemaker Frédéric Barnier has overseen the cellar since 2012, succeeding the legendary Jacques Lardière and continuing a classical, measured approach to extraction and aging across the house's full range of wines.
Chambertin Clos de Bèze is farmed organically, and the grapes are almost entirely destemmed before a careful, classical vinification in Jadot's Beaune cellars. The wine ages eighteen to twenty months in French oak, divided roughly into thirds of new, one-year, and two-year barrels, a measured regime meant to frame the fruit without overpowering the site's natural character.
The wine offers dark berries and cherries, with hints of peony, mint, and exotic spice over a base of loamy soil. Full-bodied and fleshy, it shows a creamy core of fruit, lively acidity, and sweet, melting tannins on a long finish. It pairs beautifully with prime rib, roast partridge, or a well-aged hard cheese.
