2022 MacArthur Beverages (Sean Larkin) - Cabernet Merlot Napa

This Cabernet Merlot blend has been a customer favorite since its debut in 2007, made in partnership with Sean Larkin and Bruce Devlin, winemaker at Ballentine Vineyards. The collaboration between Larkin and Devlin reflects a long working relationship built on selecting fruit and finishing blends specifically suited to MacArthur's private-label program.

The 2022 vintage combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sourced from Napa Valley vineyards, continuing the Bordeaux-style approach that defines this bottling each year. Grapes are chosen from sites suited to each variety's strengths, with Cabernet Sauvignon contributing structure and Merlot rounding out the blend with softer fruit and texture. As with past vintages, production is limited, making this a small-batch release rather than a widely distributed label.

This Bordeaux blend leans rich and structured, with dark fruit, savory spice, and firm tannins typical of Napa Cabernet-based reds. The Merlot component softens the frame and adds a supple, fleshier mid-palate. It suits hearty fare, pairing naturally with grilled beef, venison, or bone-in ribeye, and holds up well alongside aged, firm cheeses.
