Mamete Prevostini is a historic estate in Valtellina, an alpine wine region in Lombardy where Nebbiolo grows on steep, terraced slopes overlooking the Adda River. The Marena bottling draws its name from the local dialect word for black cherry, a nod to the wine's most defining character. Made entirely from Nebbiolo, the grapes come from numerous small terraced parcels within the Sassella subzone, one of Valtellina's most prized growing areas, at elevations between 350 and 550 meters in the communes of Castione and Sondrio.

Grapes are hand harvested in early October, with careful selection to remove imperfect or affected berries. After gentle destemming, the must ferments in stainless steel with about thirteen days of skin contact, followed by malolactic fermentation and roughly twelve months of aging in oak casks, then another eight months resting in bottle before release.

The finished wine shows a ruby red color with light garnet reflections. Its bouquet is intense and refined, offering cherry, hazelnut, and red berry notes that carry through to a velvety, full-bodied palate. It pairs naturally with cured meats, mushroom risotto, roasted game, or aged mountain cheeses.
