2022 Marnaveli - Rkatsiteli Oaked Kakheti (750ml)
Marnaveli is a Georgian winery founded in 2002 along the road connecting Tbilisi and Kakheti, built as a complete production operation covering everything from grape growing to bottling. Rather than working a single estate vineyard, Marnaveli sources hand-picked fruit from partner growers across Georgia's regions, allowing it to work with dozens of native varieties while blending modern winemaking technology with the country's long traditions.
This wine is made from Rkatsiteli, one of the oldest and most widely planted white grapes in Georgia, grown in the vineyards of Kakheti. Unlike Marnaveli's qvevri bottlings, this version is vinified in a more European style and finished with time in French oak, a technique that layers the grape's natural character with secondary notes drawn from the wood rather than from extended skin contact.
The wine shows a straw yellow color, with aromas of citrus and green fruit joined by vanilla and caramel from its oak aging. On the palate it is light to medium bodied, with pleasant acidity balancing the wood-derived richness, and it finishes long and gently spiced. It pairs well with grilled seafood, roast poultry, or creamy pasta dishes.
