McPrice "Mac" Myers made his first wine in 2002 with just a ton of grapes and no formal training, working out of a custom crush facility in Santa Barbara County before eventually settling in Paso Robles. A self-taught, self-described food and wine enthusiast, Myers built his reputation on Rhône-style wines that highlight the Central Coast's varied terroir, and in 2017 he acquired his current estate in the Adelaida District, where the winery operates today.

Pound for Pound is sourced from vineyards owned by the Dusi family, considered the first farming family in Paso Robles. The blend of 95 percent Zinfandel and 5 percent Petite Sirah is destemmed and given a three-to-five-day cold soak, followed by regular pump-overs and punch-downs during fermentation to build color and structure while keeping the fruit lively.

The wine opens with hibiscus flower, dragonfruit, mulberry, and blood orange, layered with cinnamon stick and sandalwood. Fresh and juicy on the palate, it finishes lively and expressive. Pair it with grilled Korean-style short ribs, spicy pork belly, or a warm peach crisp.
