Produttori del Barbaresco is the benchmark for honest, traditional Nebbiolo. The co-op was founded in 1958 by Barbaresco's parish priest, Don Fiorino Marengo, to give local growers a way to bottle their own wine instead of selling grapes to bigger houses. Today around 50 member families farm roughly 100 hectares, including parcels in legendary crus like Asili, Rabajà, Montestefano and Ovello.

2022 was a hot, dry year, and the Produttori made only a small amount of their single-vineyard Riservas, sending most of that top fruit into this bottling. That's a big deal. The blend leans on Ovello, whose clay soils handled the drought well, plus Pora, Rio Sordo, Muncagota and a bit of Montestefano. Native-yeast fermentation, a full month on the skins, then two years of aging before release.

Rich and generous for the Produttori, with dark cherry, plum, raspberry, cloves and licorice, finishing with serious but ripe tannins. Great with braised short ribs, mushroom risotto or agnolotti, or tuck a few away for the next decade-plus.

The wine delivers immediate depth and finesse, balancing the natural richness of the warm vintage with the precision and freshness that define the cooperative's style. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in large oak botti, this release shows impressive harmony and varietal purity across its substantial production of 320,000 bottles."

"In 2022, the estate will only be producing a small quantity of the single-vineyard Riservas, with the majority of fruit going into the 2022 Barbaresco. It pours a jeweled ruby red color and reveals a seductive yet very pure nose of cherry cordial, crushed roses, sweet herbs, and peppery spice. Medium-bodied, it has supple ripeness in the fruit yet wonderful clarity in its tannins and acidity, giving the wine excellent definition and balance. Roughly 133,333 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2050."
