A supple, sun-drenched Maremman red from one of Tuscany's most forward-thinking and environmentally committed estates, the Mongrana is Querciabella's biodynamic ambassador to the wild, rugged coast of southern Tuscany. Crafted from a classic Sangiovese-Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend grown in the mineral-rich soils of the Maremma IGT zone, this is a wine of immediate charm and genuine depth — approachable and generous in its youth, yet with the structure and balance to reward a few years of patience. Deep ruby in the glass, the nose is warm and inviting — ripe black cherry, plum, dried herbs, tobacco, and a whisper of Mediterranean scrubland that speaks unmistakably of the Tuscan coast. On the palate it is medium-full bodied and beautifully integrated, with soft, polished tannins, lively acidity, and flavors of dark fruit, violets, leather, and a touch of mocha on the lingering finish. Produced under Querciabella's rigorous biodynamic and vegan farming philosophy — no animal products used at any stage of production — this is conscious winemaking that never sacrifices pleasure for principle. An outstanding everyday Tuscan red that punches well above its price.

91 Points
"The 2022 Mongrana is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon coming from Maremma, south of Grosetto. It pours a saturated magenta color and is pure and floral with ripe aromas of black raspberry liqueur, fresh flowers, wet stone, and sweet herbs. It is full-bodied and approachable, with a plush, velvety texture and delicate warmth on the finish. It is a gorgeous wine with a lot of versatility at a stellar price point to drink over the next 6-8 years. 120,000 bottles produced."
