From Ridge's Monte Bello estate atop the Santa Cruz Mountains, the 2022 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon embodies a leaner, more structured style built on limestone soils and cool ocean air. Vines sit at elevations between 1,600 and 2,700 feet across four ranches, and the estate has been farmed organically since the vineyard’s revival, preserving a focused, site-driven character.
The 2022 blend pairs Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot and Merlot, aging roughly 17 months in oak to soften tannins while preserving the wine’s natural intensity. On the nose, lavender, black olive, pine forest, and cedar unfold, followed by forest floor and dark fruit on a generous mid-palate. The finish is savory and long, with a mineral edge distinctive to the site. Known as "Baby Monte Bello," this Estate bottling offers a more accessible expression while maintaining the depth and structure Ridge is famed for.
