2022 Talley - Chardonnay Rosemary's Vineyard Arroyo Grande Valley (750ml)
Talley Vineyards traces its roots to 1948, when Oliver Talley began growing vegetables in the Arroyo Grande Valley on California's South Central Coast. His family later turned to grapes, and today Brian Talley leads the estate winery, which farms six distinct vineyard sites across the Arroyo Grande and Edna Valleys. Guided by a long-term commitment to sustainability, the operation focuses on meticulous, site-specific farming aimed at showcasing the individual character of each parcel through careful, low-intervention winemaking.
Rosemary's Vineyard, planted in 1987 and named for Rosemary Talley, sits on shaly loam soil and is recognized as the coolest of the family's estate sites. The 2022 Chardonnay was whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeasts, then aged on the lees for fourteen months in French oak barrels, thirty percent new, completing full malolactic fermentation. The vineyard is certified sustainable, reflecting the estate's dedication to responsible, long-term land stewardship.
This Chardonnay opens with citrus and stone fruit layered over notes of crushed stone minerality, honeyed white flowers, and toasted almond, with a subtle thread of spice from the oak. The palate carries bright, well-integrated acidity and real textural depth, finishing long and vibrant. It pairs beautifully with roasted halibut, herb-roasted chicken, or a creamy potato gratin.
