Talley Vineyards is a family estate in San Luis Obispo County, farmed by the Talley family since the 1940s and dedicated to wine since 1986 under founders Don and Rosemary Talley. Located in the Arroyo Grande Valley just seven miles from the Pacific Ocean, the property has become one of the Central Coast's most respected sources for site-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Winemaker Eric Johnson continues that legacy today, favoring a gentle, native-yeast approach that lets each individual vineyard on the estate speak clearly through the finished wine.

Rosemary's Vineyard, named for Rosemary Talley herself, sits on the coolest and highest ground on the property, where shaly loam soils and thick-skinned fruit give this bottling its structure. The 2022 grapes were sustainably farmed, hand harvested at night, and fermented with native yeast in open top tanks, with regular hand punch downs during fermentation. The wine then spent sixteen months aging in French oak barrels, 39 percent of them new.

The glass shows aromas of blackberry, cranberry, pencil shavings, and crushed granite, leading into a palate of black cherry, dried strawberry, baking spice, and savory black tea notes. Ripe tannins and bright acidity carry the wine to a long, structured finish. It suits herb-crusted pork loin, wild mushroom tart, or grilled salmon.

96 Points
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Rosemary's Vineyard is the most mineral-laced and savory, with savory raspberries, dried strawberries, crushed stone, and floral, spicy aromas and flavors. Brought up in 39% new barrels, it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, graceful texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It will benefit from just a year in bottle and drink beautifully for a decade."
