Tenuta di Trinoro sits in the Val d'Orcia, in southern Tuscany near Sarteano, and was founded in the 1990s by the late Andrea Franchetti, a visionary who planted vines on steep, previously uncultivated hillsides where few believed serious wine could be made. The estate quickly became known for pushing the boundaries of what Tuscan reds could achieve, favoring Bordeaux varieties over the region's traditional Sangiovese. Campo di Tenaglia is one of the property's most prized single-vineyard bottlings, sourced from a tiny, high-elevation parcel that reflects the estate's exacting, small-lot philosophy.

The wine is produced from Cabernet Franc grown on a parcel of under one hectare, planted at roughly 1,700 feet on crumbled limestone and clay soils that lend the wine its distinctive mineral backbone. Franchetti's team farms the site with meticulous attention, keeping yields low to concentrate flavor, and the resulting fruit is vinified and aged to preserve the variety's aromatic lift alongside real structural depth.

Deep ruby in color, the wine offers a floral lift of violet and dried rose petal layered over dark cherry, plum, and pomegranate, with savory notes of tobacco, graphite, and worn leather adding complexity. The palate is bold and firmly tannic, with real grip and a long, persistent finish. It pairs well with grilled lamb chops, venison, or a hard aged cheese.
