2023 Baudry - Chinon Domaine (750ml)

The mid-tier cuvée from one of Chinon's benchmark estates, sitting above Les Granges in the hierarchy and offering a more structured, terroir-driven expression. Sourced primarily from a parcel in St. Louans near Les Mollières, where thin sand and clay over limestone soils yield earthy, well-structured wines, with balance from similar soils on the lower part of Clos Guillot. Organically farmed, wild-yeast fermented, and aged 15 months in 5–10 year-old wooden vats and cement with almost no added SO2. The 2023 shows elegant berry, stone, and herbal aromas with supple, fresh, and very elegant red fruit and mineral flavors on the palate — delicious now but probably best in 5 to 10 years.
