Cadre Wines is the passion project of Lucy and John Niven, who founded the label after decades in the Edna Valley wine business, choosing to focus on small production, cool climate white wines that highlight the region's unique character. John spent years building a family portfolio of expressive wines before the company was sold, and he and Lucy started Cadre to continue showing the wine world the potential of vibrant Edna Valley whites. The name Cadre reflects their idea of a small group banding together around a shared cause.

Sea Queen is crafted entirely from Albariño grown in the Edna Valley, one of California's coolest wine growing areas thanks to its proximity to the Pacific and steady marine influence. That maritime climate keeps acidity high in the grapes, a trait the winery treats as both its greatest challenge and its greatest asset, and results in a wine with real tension and energy. The fruit is vinified to preserve freshness and the site's natural salinity rather than mask it with heavy handed winemaking.

The glass shows pale gold with aromas of citrus, orange blossom, and tropical fruit alongside a distinct briny note. On the palate, layers of lemon, pear, and stone fruit unfold over crisp, mouthwatering acidity and a mineral, saline finish. This bottle is an excellent match for grilled fish, ceviche, or fresh goat cheese.
