Perched on the limestone plateau just outside the walls of Saint-Émilion, Clos Fourtet is one of the appellation's most storied estates. The 2023 — from a vintage celebrated for its freshness and precision — shows the estate's signature blend of power and finesse: ripe dark cherry, plum, and blackberry fruit woven with floral notes, graphite, and a chalky minerality drawn from the estate's remarkable limestone terroir. Full-bodied yet balanced, with a long, elegant finish. A compelling example of modern Saint-Émilion at its finest. ETA 2026.

96 Points
"The 2023 Clos Fourtet is every bit as impressive as it was en primeur. Layers of dark-toned fruit, leather, incense, mocha and gravel all build over time, leading to an impressively potent, dramatic finish. Readers will find a rich, heady Clos Fourtet. I would cellar it for at least a few years to allow the tannins to soften and the baby fat to melt away. Today, the 2023 is very young and quite primary. Readers should be in no rush. Tasted twice.
