Collemattoni is a family estate on a hillside in Sant'Angelo in Colle, on the southern side of Montalcino, just above the far larger vineyards of Col d'Orcia. Founded in the 1980s by Ado Fioravanti and now led by winemaker Marcello Bucci, the estate has steadily built its reputation with wines that consistently overdeliver for their price, blending old world farming tradition with the flexibility of a newer, well-equipped cellar. Collemattoni farms organically at elevations between 350 and 420 meters, on clay and limestone soils rich in the region's characteristic galestro.

Made entirely from Sangiovese, the wine reflects a warm but well-balanced 2023 growing season, with healthy, fragrant fruit that lent itself naturally to a fresh, immediate style. After fermenting in temperature-controlled steel, the wine ages for about twelve months in traditional Slavonian oak casks, a method that keeps the focus on the fruit and terroir rather than overt oak character.

The 2023 offers a lively, clean bouquet of cherry, raspberry, red flowers, and light spice, echoed by fragrant plum and bramble fruit with subtle herbal undertones. The palate is supple, open, and filled with succulent red fruit, showing real personality alongside layered complexity that belies its easygoing charm. Pair it with grilled sausage, roasted pork, or a simple pasta with tomato sauce.
