Domaine de la Croix Senaillet was founded in 1969 by Maurice Martin in the village of Davayé, tucked beneath the limestone outcrops of Solutré and Vergisson in the heart of the Mâconnais. Since 1992 the estate has been run by his sons, Richard and Stéphane, who farm twenty-six hectares planted entirely to Chardonnay and converted the domaine to organic viticulture in 2010. The brothers have built a particular reputation for their range of single lieu-dit Saint-Véran bottlings, alongside this Mâcon-Davayé and a Pouilly-Fuissé.

The vines grow on Middle Jurassic limestone overlain with clay, on south and southeast-facing slopes that catch full sun through the growing season. Harvest is timed to optimal ripeness, followed by slow, gentle pressing at low pressure. Fermentation and malolactic conversion take place in stainless steel, and the wine rests on fine lees for around nine months before bottling, building texture without any oak influence.

The nose offers honeysuckle, apricot, and citrus, carrying through to a full-bodied, textured palate with a long, fresh, rounded finish. Try it with grilled sole, a light chicken salad, or fresh goat's cheese.
