Daniel Bouland farms roughly eight hectares of vines from the small hamlet of Corcelette, working the land largely on his own across steep slopes where no tractor can pass. He represents the fourth generation of a winemaking family whose roots in Beaujolais stretch back nearly a century, sharing the broader family estate with his brother Raymond. Though less widely known than some of his Beaujolais neighbors, Bouland has earned a devoted following among critics and collectors for wines built with old fashioned patience and remarkable depth.

This bottling comes from old vines, around eighty years of age, planted directly into granite bedrock with essentially no topsoil, a distinct contrast to the sandier plots found elsewhere in Corcelette. That rocky foundation gives the wine added verticality and a more rustic edge than its sandy soil counterpart. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented whole cluster with native yeasts, then aged in cement vat, a traditional approach that lets the site's minerality come through clearly in the finished wine.

The wine offers a floral, fruity nose of cherry pit and dried flowers layered with gentle spice, leading into a palate built on fine, precise tannins and real elegance. It carries good structure and tension in a finely floral style, with a long finish that suggests real aging potential over the next decade or more. Pair it with duck breast in orange sauce, aged Comté, or braised beef.
