2023 Domaine Lafouge - Auxey Duresses Parapelle BLANC (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Discreet and impeccable, Domaine Lafouge has been run by the same family for several centuries from the heart of Auxey-Duresses. No marketing campaigns, no shortcuts — the estate's reputation has been built entirely on the quality of what's in the bottle. Gilles Lafouge, the sixth generation at this 10-hectare estate, is now joined in the cellar by his son Maxime.
La Parapelle sits at the top section of Les Duresses, a parcel left unplanted until 2018 that Gilles himself says shares the same soil structure as Meursault Perrières. Viticulture is carried out with respect for the soil using a sustainable approach close to organic. In the cellar, winemaking remains traditional and minimally interventionist — fermentation with indigenous yeasts, measured extraction, and precise aging without excessive use of wood.
The 2023 vintage delivers beautiful ripeness and density alongside excellent brightness and acidity. On the nose, white flowers, honey, and baked apple, with lovely textural richness and a pleasing fine bone of acidity. These are whites of beautiful purity, cut, minerality, and raciness — wines that will reward cellaring of 5 to 20+ years, though some can be enjoyed with impressive early generosity.
