Elena Walch is a five-generation family estate in Alto Adige, one of the leading names in the wine quality revolution that transformed this corner of northeastern Italy. The Kristallberg bottling comes from a dedicated high-altitude vineyard site perched at roughly 2,000 feet on a small porphyry terrace between Tramin and Kaltern, chosen specifically to preserve freshness and vertical minerality in Pinot Bianco as the climate warms.

In the cellar, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and cold static clarification before fermentation at a controlled temperature. Most of the must ferments in large wooden casks, with a smaller portion in French oak barriques, and the wine matures for around ten to twelve months before bottling.

The result is a clear, fresh straw yellow wine with real minerality at its core. Aromas of ripe pear and white stone fruit lead the way, layered with spicy green walnut alongside smoky, mineral undertones. On the palate, the wine feels elegant and precise, carried by juicy freshness, youthful energy, and lively acidity that lingers into a long finish. It's a versatile partner for roast poultry, seafood, mild cheeses, and creamy pasta dishes.

91 Points
"This creamy white shows tension and freshness, revealing flavors of quince paste, passion fruit, green almond and pickled ginger as they expand on the palate and through the minerally finish. Enjoy now or try again in a few years with short-term cellaring. Drink now through 2035."
