Flowers Vineyards & Winery was founded in 1989 by Walt and Joan Flowers, Pennsylvania nursery owners who spotted an ad for undeveloped coastal acreage and set out to grow world class Pinot Noir along the rugged, fog draped ridges above the Pacific. Their gamble made them pioneers of the far Sonoma Coast, and the estate later partnered with Huneeus Vintners in 2009 to secure its long term future. Winemaker Chantal Forthun has led production since 2012, guiding the house toward a minimal intervention style built around site transparency.

Fruit for this bottling is drawn from vineyards scattered across the greater Sonoma Coast appellation, farmed organically and harvested by hand. Fermentation relies on native yeasts, and the wine rests in French oak barrels, only a portion of them new, before bottling without fining or filtration, preserving the coastal freshness the estate is known for.

The glass offers lifted spice alongside compact red berries, Bing cherry, rose petal, and sweet herbs, layered over a savory undercurrent of forest floor and a lingering saline edge. Medium bodied and polished, with fine grained tannins, it suits grilled duck breast, herb rubbed lamb, or a simple aged Gouda.

94 Points
"The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a medium ruby color and is fresh on the nose with notes of lifted spice, compact red berries, Bing cherries, roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a polished and fine texture, a silky feel, and clean..."
