From Castello Nipozzano, the Frescobaldi family's largest holding and the leading estate in Chianti Rufina, a cooler, hillier zone in the Apennine foothills north of the more famous Chianti Classico. A blend of 90% Sangiovese with small additions of Canaiolo and Merlot, fermented in stainless steel or concrete before aging in barriques, with further time in bottle before release as a Riserva. Expect the Rufina zone's signature freshness and lift: ripe black cherry and red plum fruit, cherry blossom perfume, a touch of balsamic, and dense but well-integrated tannins. A benchmark, accessibly priced Chianti Rufina from one of Tuscany's oldest and most respected producers.

92 Points
"Intense and multi-layered wine with dark and profound character, vermouth-like spicy complexity, cinchona, bark and dark cherries. Medium-bodied, firm and velvety with clove flavors, chewy acidity and tight-knit depth. Youthful and chewy yet balanced. Drink or hold."
—Aldo Fiordelli-James Suckling
