2023 Gracciano della Seta - Rosso di Montepulciano (750ml)
Tenuta di Gracciano della Seta is one of the oldest wineries in the Montepulciano denomination, with cellars dating back to the mid-1800s. The estate has belonged to the Della Seta Ferrari Corbelli family since the mid-1900s, and siblings Marco, Vannozza, and Galdina now lead the property following their father Giorgio's decision to focus the once sprawling 400-hectare farm down to 70 hectares of top-quality vineyard. The family has remained committed to a traditional, understated style, and Gracciano is now one of the few estates in the region still using the old consortium label design.
Rosso di Montepulciano is the estate's youngest wine, made to showcase the fresh, fruit-forward character of Prugnolo Gentile, the local clone of Sangiovese, blended here with a small portion of Merlot. Grapes are farmed organically and the wine is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, a method chosen to preserve brightness and natural acidity rather than add oak influence. Because it is released the year after harvest, it is meant to be enjoyed young while its fruit is at its most vivid.
The wine pours a bright ruby red, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and baking spice with a touch of chocolate and hazelnut. On the palate it is dry and fresh, with silky, well-integrated tannins and a smooth, easygoing finish. Its versatility makes it a natural match for charcuterie, pasta with tomato sauce, or semi-aged cheeses.
