The Grosjean family has farmed the Valle d'Aosta since the region was still French territory, but it was Dauphin Grosjean who turned the family's home wine into a real winemaking career, starting in earnest in 1969 and converting to organic and sustainable practices by 1975. In 2011 the estate became the first in the region to earn organic certification, and Dauphin's sons now run the property, farming seven hectares spread across steep mountain terrain that in places can only be reached on foot.

Cornalin is a local variety the Grosjean family first bottled in 2005, distinct from the grape of the same name grown in Switzerland's Valais. This bottling comes from a half-hectare parcel within the steeply sloped, south-facing Rovettaz vineyard in the village of Quart, planted on sandy glacial moraine soils. The destemmed grapes ferment spontaneously in wooden vats for about two weeks, then age eight months in large foudres before further time settling in bottle.

The 2023 is subtly herbaceous, built around dominant red cherry fruit with underlying notes of peppery spice, backed by a full body, lively acidity, and real aging potential. It pairs well with grilled meats, mountain cheeses, or hearty stews.
