Domaine Henri Germain was established in 1973 by Henri Germain in the village of Meursault. His son, Jean-François Germain, has run the estate for years, continuing an organic approach to farming across roughly seven hectares. The domaine is especially celebrated for its white Burgundies, producing some of the more compelling examples of Chardonnay found in the Côte de Beaune, though it also makes a small amount of red wine from old family holdings.

This village Meursault is blended from several small parcels, including Clos du Cromin and Les Dressoles, planted mostly in the 1950s on limestone soils layered with silt and clay. Grapes are picked by hand, and the wine ferments slowly and coolly with native yeasts, without added enzymes. Aging runs about eighteen months in barrel, a quarter of it new, followed by several months in tank before a light fining and filtration.

The wine opens with scents of waxy citrus peel, orchard fruit, apple blossom and toasted nuts. On the palate it is medium to full bodied, fleshy and layered, with a racy vein of acidity and a chalky, saline finish that lingers pleasantly. Serve it with grilled scallops, roast guinea hen, or a rich cream sauce over fish.

90-91 Points
"Layered and charming, the 2023 Meursault Village offers up aromas of waxy citrus rind, sweet orchard fruit, apple blossom and toasted nuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural palate. This will offer a broad drinking window."
