Jacques Carillon farms this tiny 0.55-hectare parcel of Champs Canet — planted by his father in 1973 — on the northern edge of Puligny, right on the border with Meursault. It's old vines on marl-limestone soil, and the wine shows the quiet power and restrained, terroir-first style that's made Carillon's name synonymous with top-tier Puligny. The 2023 opens with orange blossom, peach, and honey, moving into a medium to full-bodied, ample, and unctuous palate — textural and enveloping, with real generosity balanced by mineral tension and a mouthwatering finish.

Country France
Region Burgundy
Appellation Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Producer Domaine Jacques Carillon
Varietal Chardonnay
Format 750ml
92 Points
"A discreet application of oak sets off markedly floral-suffused white orchard fruit aromas. Once again there is a strikingly lovely texture to the generously proportioned medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced finale. Like several wines in the range, this too could use better depth so some patience is recommended. With that said, Champs Canet almost always drinks well young so if you're going to pull a Carillon '23 to try, this would be a good choice"
