In 1881, Anton Jermann left the border country between Austria and Slovenia and settled in Farra, in Friuli, founding the estate that still carries his name. His descendants, Angelo and Bruna, carried the family tradition forward from 1930, but it was their son, Silvio, who transformed the winery after completing his enology studies and gaining experience working abroad. In 2007 Silvio opened a new cellar and relocated the estate's headquarters to Ruttars. Capo Martino, first produced in 1991, takes its name from a hillside purchased that year and stands as the successor to a single-vintage tribute wine made in honor of Anton's original 1881 journey, carrying forward that same philosophy of elegance, body, and complexity, with a touch of rustic character that recalls the estate's agricultural roots.

Capo Martino blends Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia Istriana, and Picolit, sourced from a 7.5-hectare vineyard in the Gorizia hills that was fully replanted between 1996 and 2003 while preserving its traditional varieties. After a brief skin maceration, the wine ferments and ages for around fourteen months in Slavonian oak casks, followed by roughly two years of further maturation in bottle before release.

The wine shows a bright golden color, with aromas of tropical fruit, lime, and sweet ripe fruit alongside honeysuckle and dried lemon. The palate is graceful yet fresh, mineral and sapid, with a structured, velvety finish. It pairs beautifully with fish-based dishes or rich seafood preparations.

93 Points
"The Jermann 2023 Capo Martino is a blend of Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia that represents a classic Friulian white trio, presented here in screw cap and opening to rich aromas of preserved lemon, orange, honeycomb, dried sage and yellow rose. You get beautiful complexity followed by spice and dusty mineral tones, with an edgy, sharp profile that concludes on a firm note. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in the same tonneaux and Slavonian oak botti (20 to 22 hectoliters) used for its 11 months of aging with lees stirring, this wine comes from a single seven-hectare vineyard with 32-year-old vines planted between 110 and 160 meters above sea level."
