The first vintage of this wine dates back to 1973, however Vintage Tunina was actually first released in 1975.
Historically, Vintage Tunina starts out as a blend of the best grapes that are harvested late, depending on the year, about two weeks after the normal harvest on an area of about 16 hectares of vineyards cultivated on Ronco del Fortino
Tunina was both the name of the lady who was the first owner of this vineyard and Casanova’s poorest lover (she used to be a housekeeper for a Venetian family and her name was Tunina, a nickname of Antonia), whom the wine is dedicated to
-Winery notes
"The Jermann 2023 Vintage Tunina is a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia that shows a lively, energetic freshness carried through both the bouquet and a lean mouthfeel. The nose reveals layered complexity, opening with minty apple and white peach before moving toward salty mineral notes and subtle savory hints of dried sage and light cinnamon, while the palate remains dry with firm mineral sensations that shape an edgy, focused finish. Fermented initially in stainless steel on the fine lees until about 6% alcohol, with a portion of the must transferred to large Slavonian oak botti to complete fermentation, the wine is sourced from 16 hectares of 31-year-old vines on marl and sandstone soils. The final blend is assembled after maturation across both vessels, with 75% in stainless steel and 25% in botte."
