The Jobard-Morey domaine traces back to 1949, when a Jobard married into the Morey family of Meursault and the couple began estate bottling. Today it is run by Valentin Jobard, a cousin of the well-known Meursault producers Antoine and Remi Jobard, working alongside Remi Ehret across roughly four hectares. The pair place most of their effort in the vineyard, believing that careful, reasoned farming is what ultimately shapes a wine's quality.

This village-level Meursault is blended from several parcels around the commune, mostly on gentler, lower-lying ground than the domaine's single-vineyard bottlings. The grapes are hand-harvested and pressed with care, then fermented and aged in oak barrels before finishing in tank ahead of bottling. The approach favors purity over overt oak, letting the wine reflect the village's chalky limestone soils rather than the cellar.

The wine has a rich, fascinating aroma, with nuances of tropical fruit and lemon layered over the classic Meursault richness. Bright acidity keeps the palate in check, tightening the fruit through to a clean, dry finish. It drinks well young but has the structure to hold for a few years. Pour it with pan-seared halibut, herb-roasted chicken, or a simple cream sauce pasta.

91 Points
"Jobard's 2023 Meursault Village derives from his old-vine holdings in Les Pelles, below premier cru Gouttes d'Or, where the soils are deep but gravelly. This is the finest rendition I've tasted to date, offering up notes of pear and orange zest mingled with hints of citrus blossom and toasted nuts, followed by medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate that concludes with an elegantly perfumed finish (a characteristic likely derived from some Chardonnay "muscaté" selections growing in the upper part of this old-vine parcel)."
