2023 Le Boncie - Chianti Classico DOCG Le Trame (750ml)

Le Trame comes from Podere Le Boncie, a tiny three-hectare estate in San Felice, just north of Castelnuovo Berardenga in the southern reaches of Chianti Classico. The property is run by Giovanna Morganti, whose father was a respected oenologist devoted to traditional Tuscan varietals long before international consultants took interest in the region. Giovanna has built a reputation as one of the most compelling traditionalist winemakers in Tuscany, and Le Trame, whose name refers to the wheeling and dealing required to acquire the land, is the estate's flagship wine.

Farmed organically, the Sangiovese grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, and fermented in open top wooden tanks with native yeasts and no additives. The wine then ages in medium sized wooden barrels before spending additional months resting in bottle prior to release.

The 2023 vintage carries real power and concentration while still finding finesse, with layered notes of forest floor, dried herbs, and red fruit delivered with clarity and subtlety. On the palate, this Chianti Classico is structured and dark, with fresh, grassy fruit, wet earth character, and velvety tannins that build across a long, complex finish. Decanting for an hour or two beforehand will help the wine open fully, and this is a bottle that will continue to reward with time in the cellar.
