MacRostie Winery was founded in 1987 by Steve MacRostie and his wife Thale, though Steve's roots in the region trace back to 1974, when he made his first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while working at Hacienda Winery in the early days of Sonoma County wine country. Over the decades he built long-standing relationships with some of the region's most respected growing families, including the Duttons, Sangiacomos, and Bacigalupis. Winemaker Heidi Bridenhagen now guides the cellar program, continuing the fresh, elegant style Steve pioneered while the winery maintains its certification as one of California's sustainably farmed producers.

This Sonoma Coast bottling draws on fruit from a range of cool-climate vineyard sites across Carneros, the Russian River Valley, and the Petaluma Gap, chosen for their marine fog exposure and long, even ripening season. Grapes are typically picked at night to preserve freshness, then much of the juice is fermented and aged in French oak barrels, a process that builds texture without masking the fruit's natural brightness.

The wine shows a medium golden color with aromas of persimmon, ripe Meyer lemon, and rich brioche. On the palate it's lush and textural, with bright citrus flavors and a cool-climate energy that carries through a long, poised finish. It pairs nicely with Dungeness crab, roasted turkey, or a simple butter-poached lobster.

93 Points
"Plenty of ripe, succulent fruit on a full body and a smooth, rounded texture. Applesauce, pineapple, brown butter and vanilla bean flavors give ample richness. Drink now. Screw cap."
