2023 Patricia Green - Pinot Noir Ribbon Ridge Estate (750ml)
Patricia Green Cellars was founded in 2000 when Patty Green and Jim Anderson purchased a 52-acre property in what would soon become the Ribbon Ridge AVA of Yamhill County. The winery has since built a reputation for producing an unusually broad range of single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, sourced from some of the Willamette Valley's most historic sites. All of the vineyards are farmed organically or sustainably and without irrigation, reflecting the winery's commitment to letting each site express its own character.
The Estate Vineyard is planted mostly to self-rooted Pommard clone vines set between 1984 and 1998, giving this bottling access to fruit from some of the property's oldest plantings. Ribbon Ridge sits on uplifted marine sedimentary soils known locally as Willakenzie, prized for their fine texture and mineral character. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeast before aging in French oak, a process meant to highlight the site's natural structure and sense of place.
The 2023 opens with aromas of dark plum, cedar, and cranberry scone. The palate feels fresh and youthful, with lively acidity and gentle, well-integrated tannins framing flavors of ripe raspberry, vanilla spice, and wet stone. It pairs well with roasted duck, braised short ribs, or aged cheddar.
