Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo sits in the heart of the Douro near Pinhão, one of the region's most striking estates and a founding property of the Demarcated Douro dating to 1756. The Amorim family, of Portuguese cork fame, has owned and restored the quinta since 1999, farming its 120 hectares with a strong focus on the estate's classified old vine plots and a commitment to expressing pure Douro terroir without excessive intervention in the cellar.

This wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão, grown on the estate's schist soils. The 2023 growing season brought a warm, rainy year, but timely rains and cool August nights allowed the grapes to ripen evenly. After destemming, the grapes ferment in stainless steel and concrete vats, with no time in oak, a deliberate choice meant to showcase the fruit and mineral character of the vineyard rather than any influence from wood.

The wine pours a bright ruby color, with youthful, exuberant aromas of dark fruit and wet stone. On the palate it is dense yet fresh, structured by ripe tannins and lively acidity, with real richness and volume for an unoaked red. It pairs well with grilled red meats, aged cheeses, or charcuterie.
