Cantine San Marzano is one of Puglia's most celebrated cooperative wineries, rooted in the sun-drenched heel of Italy's boot where the Adriatic and Ionian seas converge to shape a uniquely Mediterranean terroir. The name Edda — meaning "she" in the local Salento dialect — captures the spirit of this wine perfectly: feminine, expressive, and full of character.

The blend is predominantly Chardonnay with small additions of Moscatello Selvatico and Fiano, grown in vineyards overlooking the Ionian Sea in soils rich in alluvial deposits and limestone, at around 100 meters above sea level.  In the cellar, grapes are destemmed and undergo cryomaceration for a few hours, followed by gentle pressing and cold static decanting before alcoholic fermentation in French oak barriques. The wine then ages for four months on fine lees with weekly bâtonnage— a technique that builds texture and roundness while preserving the wine's freshness.

Lovely tropical and yellow fruit on the nose — pineapple, lychee, and melon — alongside seashells and flowers; fresh and gently saline with a medium to full body (James Suckling, 91 pts). Ripe pear, peach, candied lemon, apricot, mint, chamomile, and hazelnut round out the aromatics, with barrel aging subtle and elegantly integrated. On the palate, the wine is creamy, coupled with freshness and saline minerality, and followed by a refined finish.  The 2023 vintage also earned Gold at both the Vinarium International Wine Contest and the Sakura Awards.

A stunning value from southern Italy — this is Puglia's white wine moment.

Drink: Now–2027 | Pair with: Salt-baked sea bass, grilled shrimp, seafood pasta, burrata, mild fresh cheeses

Appellation: Salento IGT
Vintage: 2023
Country: Italy
Producer: San Marzano
