2023 Stags' Leap - Chardonnay Napa HALF BOTTLE (375ml)

Stags' Leap Winery sits on one of Napa Valley's most storied properties, within the small, dramatic pocket known as the Stags Leap District. The estate's 1892 stone Manor House once anchored a fashionable resort popular with Hollywood visitors, complete with tales of bootleggers and lawn parties, before passing through three family groups on its way to the modern winery that emerged in the 1970s. That layered history still shapes the estate's identity today, blending old Napa glamour with serious winemaking.

This Chardonnay is sourced from two of the valley's coolest sites, Carneros and Oak Knoll, both tempered by marine air drifting in from San Pablo Bay. Carneros fruit lends citrus, mineral, and crisp apple character, while Oak Knoll contributes riper tropical and stone fruit notes. The blend carries a small addition of Viognier for aromatic lift, and the wine undergoes partial barrel fermentation with regular lees stirring, building a round, creamy texture. The 2023 growing season ran unusually long, pushing harvest into early September and concentrating flavor and acidity in the finished wine.

The glass shows a shimmering golden hue, with aromas of lemon crème, white pineapple, and citrus blossom layered over spiced oak. The palate turns full and silky, closing on a long finish touched with lychee and stony minerality. Pour it with lobster, roast turkey, or aged gruyère.
