2023 Vie di Romans - Pinot Grigio Dessemis (750ml)

Gianfranco Gallo has run this Friuli estate since 1978, and Dessimis is his benchmark Pinot Grigio, sourced from a single vineyard with vines at least 20 years old, planted in gravel and red clay soil, and rested nine months on the lees in barrique for added textural richness. The unique alluvial, mineral-rich soil and dramatic daily temperature swings from the Bora winds give the wine real depth rarely found in the variety. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate praised its faint copper hue with pink-gold reflections, an expressive bouquet of floral notes and sweet almond that goes well beyond typical Pinot Grigio, offering a more sophisticated take on the grape than simple stone fruit and citrus. A serious, textured expression that consistently ranks among the finest Pinot Grigio being made anywhere in Italy.
