2023 Vignoble des Cabottes - Beaune Greves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Vignoble des Cabottes is a newly independent Burgundy estate launched in 2025 by Artémis Domaines, the group behind Château Latour and Clos de Tart, built around the finest Grand and Premier Cru parcels formerly farmed by Bouchard Père & Fils. Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus is among the estate's most historic holdings, acquired at a sale of national assets in 1791 and farmed by the same family ever since. The 2023 vintage marks the first release under the Cabottes name, following the estate's separation from Bouchard's broader négociant business.
This 3.92-hectare parcel sits mid-slope within the larger Beaune Premier Cru Les Grèves, on loose, gravelly, almost sandy limestone soil over a deep bedrock that lets roots dig well below the surface, sheltering the vines from water stress. Considered by many Beaune's unofficial grand cru, it's organically farmed, hand harvested early in the season, and only the oldest vines and most concentrated fruit make the final blend. The wine undergoes cold maceration, fermentation with treading, and around sixteen to twenty months in French oak, roughly 35 to 40% new.
The 2023 is concentrated yet refined, with a perfumed nose of violet, spice, and abundant red fruit. Medium-bodied and graceful even at this early stage, it carries a striking mineral freshness through the finish. It's an excellent match for roast duck, mushroom-forward dishes, or a simple coq au vin.
