2023 Vignoble des Cabottes - Beaune Teurons (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
In 2025, three years after being acquired by Artémis Domaines, the historic house of Bouchard Père & Fils split into two separate entities. One retained the storied Bouchard name and continues from its historic cellars in Savigny-lès-Beaune; the other, christened Domaine des Cabottes, brought together roughly thirty-five hectares of the estate's most prestigious Côte de Beaune climats, including grand crus like Montrachet and Corton alongside top premier crus in Meursault, Volnay, and Beaune. The 2023 vintage marks the first wines vinified under the new Cabottes banner, and also happens to be the final year Bouchard operated as a négociant-éleveur before focusing exclusively on fruit from its own vines. Technical director Frédéric Weber, who has guided the Bouchard cellars for years, continues to oversee winemaking for the new domaine.
Les Teurons sits on a small hillock near the town of Beaune, between the premier crus Les Grèves and Clos de la Mousse; its name comes from a Celtic word meaning "the mount." The estate's holding here, just over two hectares, was assembled gradually starting in 1791 and completed in 1869, on predominantly limestone soil facing east-southeast. The grapes are hand harvested in small crates and carefully sorted before partial or total destemming, then fermented in small vats with a maceration lasting fifteen to twenty days depending on the vintage.
The wine shows a sleek, focused profile, with mineral acidity, dried flower delicacy, and blood orange freshness. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant, and vital, finishing long and clean. It pairs well with roast duck, poultry, or mushroom dishes.
