Viña Cordelia traces its roots to 1939, when the Abella family fled the Spanish Civil War and eventually settled in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. By 1948 they had begun making a fortified mistela from the pink-skinned Rosa del Perú grape, mostly for their own use and as a way to hold on to their Catalan heritage, while also planting olive and almond trees on the property. The family's original vines are still in production today, and the winery, now guided by a fourth generation of the Abella family, has grown to include a full range of red, white, and rosé wines alongside its historic specialty.

Rosa del Perú is the grape at the heart of Viña Cordelia's identity, a distinctive pink-skinned variety that the family has cultivated on the same old vineyard for decades in San Luis Potosí's high-altitude, semi-arid terrain. For Ámfora, the grapes undergo an extended maceration on their skins, the defining technique of orange winemaking, which pulls color, texture, and structure from the skins that would otherwise be left behind in a conventional white wine. This slow contact is what gives the finished wine its distinctive amber-orange hue and adds real depth beyond what the grape alone would offer.

The result is a complex, textured orange wine with an inviting amber color and aromas of dried nuts and warm spice layered over the grape's natural character. It carries more structure and grip than a typical white, without losing its sense of freshness. It pairs well with roasted vegetables, aged cheeses, or spiced Mexican dishes.
