2023 Zuccardi - Semillon Poligonos Del Valle Tupungato (750ml)
Familia Zuccardi began in Mendoza when Alberto Zuccardi planted his first vineyard in the 1960s, a passion later carried forward by his son José and now led by third-generation winemaker Sebastián Zuccardi. The Polígonos line reflects the family's ongoing study of the Uco Valley's distinct plots and soil types, work that has spanned more than a decade of careful vineyard mapping. This Semillon is part of that exploration, sourced from a rare, historic planting the family has cultivated for half a century.
The grapes come from an old pergola-trained vineyard in El Peral, Tupungato, planted around 1973 at roughly 1,200 meters above sea level, on alluvial soils shaped by the Las Tunas River. Following direct pressing, the wine ferments with native yeasts and ages entirely in unroasted French oak barrels, with no malolactic fermentation, a method chosen to preserve the grape's natural freshness and tension.
This Semillon offers aromas of lemon zest, white blossom, and a subtle creaminess, with mineral and flinty undertones typical of the site. The palate is textured yet vibrant, showing citrus, melon, and stone fruit alongside bright acidity and a long, saline finish. It pairs nicely with grilled white fish, roasted poultry, or a soft-ripened cheese.
