Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat remains one of the Côte de Nuits' most admired classical estates, a reputation built since Charles van Canneyt took over from his grandfather Alain in 2008. The domaine now farms ten hectares across four villages and fifteen appellations, working with indigenous yeasts and skipping fining or filtration to let each individual site express itself as purely as possible. That hands-off philosophy carries through even to the estate's village-level bottlings, which are treated with the same care as its Grand Cru holdings.

Au Bas de Combe is a village lieu-dit on the Vosne side of Nuits-Saint-Georges, sitting just below the Premier Cru Les Boudots and benefiting from a site that historically avoids frost. The vines here are roughly forty years old, and their position near the Vosne-Romanée border tends to give a lighter, more perfumed style than typical Nuits reds, favoring red fruit over the appellation's usual darker, plummier register.

The 2024 shows a light, slightly tertiary, loamy bouquet layered with open red berry fruit, alpine strawberry, and redcurrant. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and notable precision through the finish. Pour it with grilled steak, root vegetable gratin, or aged cheddar.
