2024 Alain Hudelot-Noellat - Vosne Romanee Suchots (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat farms ten hectares of clay and limestone soils across the Côte de Nuits, with vines averaging forty to sixty years old and total production running around fifty-seven thousand bottles a year. Alain Hudelot founded the estate in 1962, and his grandson, Charles van Canneyt, has overseen the cellar since 2008, sticking to methods that favor clarity and finesse over sheer muscle even at the domaine's most prestigious addresses.
Les Suchots typically ranks among the richer, more generous expressions in the estate's Vosne-Romanée lineup. Fruit is predominantly destemmed and fermented whole in cement tanks over a classical two-to-three-week maceration, then moved to barrel, largely François Frères oak, for roughly eighteen months of aging. This combination tends to give Suchots more immediate weight and fruit intensity than some of the domaine's leaner, more reserved Premier Crus.
The 2024 shows a deeply pitched, spicy nose with plum, dark cherry, and a hint of kirsch. The palate is rich and generously proportioned, with a sappy, larger-bodied feel that carries real length. Serve it with duck leg confit, grilled lamb rack, or a ripe Livarot.
