Arianna Occhipinti is one of the leading figures behind the revival of Frappato, an indigenous Sicilian grape that growers were once more likely to pull up than harvest. Mentored by her uncle Giusto Occhipinti of the celebrated COS estate, Arianna started with a single hectare of abandoned bush vines in Vittoria and has since built her own biodynamically farmed property in the far southeastern corner of Sicily, south of even Tunis in latitude. Her vineyards sit on an ancient seabed of sand and white limestone, a soil profile that lends her wines a lightness and freshness often compared to Burgundian reds despite the region's hot, dry climate.

This bottling comes from vines around forty years old, grown at roughly 280 meters elevation. Fermentation happens in stainless steel with native yeasts, followed by aging that gives the wine its structure without weighing it down. In the glass, it shows a brilliant ruby color and an inviting perfume of cherry and raspberry, layered with delicate floral and spicy notes. The palate is fresh and lively, framed by soft tannins and bright acidity that make it easy to return to glass after glass.

Best served slightly chilled, this Frappato pairs naturally with grilled swordfish, mushroom risotto, or a simple plate of charcuterie.
